Nicholas Perez-Hoop

AEA

Nicholas Perez-Hoop is an actor, director, dramaturg, and puppeteer based in NYC. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Nicks passion for theatre eventually turned into a career and life in the arts.

Currently: The Boy Who Loved Batman at the Straz Center of the Performing Arts, produced in coordination with Nederlander Worldwide. Directed by Jeff Calhoun.

 

Credits include: American Stage, Walnut Street Theatre, Florida Repertory Theatre, freefall theatre, Media Theatre, Atlanta Shakespeare Company, Jobsite Theatre, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Urbanite Theatre, Hippodrome State Theatre, Stageworks Theatre, Philadelphia Artists Collective, amongst others. His work in "Hand To God" received Best Actor from both Creative Loafing and BroadwayWorld.

 

As a dramaturg he served as Literary Manager at Tampa Repertory Theatre for four years. His directing credits include She Kills Monsters, Ship, I Am Nobody’s Lunch, Open, The Other Place etc. He is a graduate of the Kennedy Center’s Directing Fellowship in Washington D.C., a proud member of LMDA, and has been a puppeteer in over a dozen theatre for young audience productions, and has worked as a teaching artist since 2015. He is a proud AEA member.

 

Point Park University and University of South Florida.

 

He served as the 2022/23 Asolo Repertory Theatre Directing Fellow, and currently serves as Artistic Associate at Urbanite Theatre in Sarasota, FL.
